Kartik Singh Youngest Pick; Honey Baisoya Costliest Indian at 72 The League Auction

The inaugural auction of 72 The League delivered record bids and breakout moments as six franchises assembled their squads ahead of the league’s February 21 start.

Sanctioned by the Professional Golf Tour of India and promoted by Game of Life Sports, the franchise-based competition saw 60 professionals go under the hammer, with each team operating within a Rs 1 crore purse.

Honey Baisoya Emerges as Top Indian Buy

In-form Honey Baisoya was the headline acquisition of the evening. Fresh off his DP World Players Championship win at Qutab Golf Course, the 29-year-old attracted a three-way bidding contest before being secured for Rs 20.5 lakh by Delhi’s Capital Lancers.

Placed in the Platinum category with a base price of Rs 10 lakh, Baisoya’s final price reflected his strong recent form on tour.

Kartik Singh Creates History at 16

Gurugram’s Kartik Singh became the youngest player bought at the auction at just 16 years and one month. Bracketed in the Silver category with a base price of Rs 3 lakh, Kartik was eventually signed by Mumbai Aces for Rs 14.40 lakh after competitive bidding.

Kartik turned professional in September 2025 and earned his full card on the Asian Development Tour within three months, marking a rapid rise in the professional ranks.

At the other end of the age spectrum, 60-year-old veteran Mukesh Kumar was drafted by Kolkata Classics for Rs 7 lakh, adding experience to the squad.

Shubham Jaglan Among Biggest Gainers

Twenty-one-year-old Shubham Jaglan registered one of the sharpest jumps in value. With a base price of Rs 3 lakh, he sparked interest from multiple franchises before Hyderabad-based Charminar Champions secured him for Rs 19 lakh.

His signing underlined the league’s focus on emerging Indian talent alongside established names.

International Presence Strengthens Squads

A total of 12 foreign professionals from seven countries were picked up at the auction. USA’s Jhared Hack led the overseas signings, joining Capital Lancers for Rs 15.80 lakh after aggressive bidding.

The six franchises competing in the league are

  • Capital Lancers (Delhi)
  • Charminar Champions (Hyderabad)
  • Kolkata Classics
  • Mumbai Aces
  • Rajasthan Regals
  • UP Prometheans

Each team selected a 10-player roster combining youth, experience, and international depth.

The first edition of 72 The League will be staged across three venues in Delhi-NCR:

  • Classic Golf & Country Club
