Justin Rose Cruises to Record-Breaking Farmers Insurance Open Victory

Justin Rose delivered a statement win at Torrey Pines, closing out the Farmers Insurance Open in dominant fashion to claim his 13th PGA Tour title and set a new tournament scoring record.

The 45-year-old Englishman began the final round with a six-shot cushion and never allowed the field a way back, carding a steady two-under 70 to finish 23 under par, seven shots clear of the nearest challengers.

Rose, who had led the tournament from the opening round, combined precision with patience on the demanding South Course. Birdies at the sixth, eighth and ninth holes stretched his advantage early, and a lone bogey at the 12th proved inconsequential as he maintained complete control down the stretch.

The winning total eclipsed the previous tournament record of 22 under, set by Tiger Woods in 1999 and George Burns in 1987, underlining the scale of Rose’s performance.

“This has been a huge win, and to start the season like this is amazing,” Rose said afterward. “I set little goals for myself throughout the round to stay focused, and I managed my game exactly how I wanted.”

The victory also made Rose the oldest player to record a wire-to-wire win on the PGA Tour since Rocco Mediate in 2010, further highlighting his longevity at the highest level.

American Pierceson Coody produced the round of the day with a seven-under 65 to finish tied second alongside Si Woo Kim and Ryo Hisatsune, while Jake Knapp and Stephan Jaeger ended one shot further back.

Five-time major champion Brooks Koepka, competing in his first PGA Tour event since leaving LIV Golf, finished tied 56th after a closing 70.

For Rose, who finished runner-up at the 2025 Masters and last won on tour at the FedEx St Jude Championship, the message was clear: age has not dulled his edge, and his hunger for wins remains firmly intact.
